During the second innings of the Edgbaston Test, Rishabh Pant faced some verbal volleys from England's Harry Brook, who attempted to disrupt the Indian wicket-keeper's momentum.

As Rishabh Pant was building his innings, Brook tried to unsettle him by asking, "What's your fastest hundred?" He was seemingly trying to goad Pant into playing reckless shots.

Pant responded calmly, stating his fastest Test century was achieved in "maybe 80–90 minutes," referring to the measured pace of his previous centuries.

Brook then referenced his own swift century in the IPL, boasting, "The fastest hundred I’ve hit was in 55 balls—you could do that today."

Pant, however, remained composed, replying with a smile, "It’s okay. I’m not too greedy for records. If it happens, it happens," effectively shutting down Brook's sledging attempt.

After scoring 25 in the first innings, Pant played a counter-attacking innings, scoring 65 off 58 balls, including eight fours and three sixes.

In his 28th SENA Test, Pant has accumulated 2,023 runs at an average of 41.28, including six centuries and six fifties in 52 innings. His highest score remains an unbeaten 159.

Across the series, Pant has been a prolific run-scorer, amassing 342 runs in four innings at an average of 85.00 and a strike rate of 81.81, with two centuries and one half-century, reaching a top score of 134.

During his innings, Pant partnered with Gill to add 110 runs for the fourth wicket.

Gill himself played a significant knock, following up his 269 in the first innings with 161 off 162 balls, hitting 13 fours and eight sixes.

Jadeja contributed an unbeaten 69 (118 balls, five fours and one six), forming a 175-run partnership with the Indian captain for the fifth wicket.

India, resuming the fourth day at 64 for one, had previously lost KL Rahul (55) and Karun Nair (26) during the first session.
