Australia have announced their 15-member squad for the ODI series against India. The high-profile bilateral series, which will also see the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will start on October 19. Mitchell Marsh has been named the captain of the side in the absence of Pat Cummins, who continues to recover from a lower back injury.
There are two more major changes in the team. Middle-order batter Marnus Labuschagne, who played a grafter’s role in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup win, has been dropped from the side due to poor form. Furthermore, Glenn Maxwell has not been able to recover in time from his wrist fracture and has been left out of both the ODI and T20I squads. He is expected to make his return in the Big Bash League.

Australia have also announced the return of Cameron Green to the ODI setup after his injury break. However, the fast bowling all-rounder has not been named in the T20I side as he focusses on his preparation for the Ashes, which is set to be held immediately after the white-ball series against India. The 26-year-old bowled for the first time in a match since back surgery last year, picking up one wicket in his four-over spell in Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield game.
Australia also announced their T20I squad for the first two games of the 5-match series. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis made his return to the side after the birth of his child, alongside Josh Inglis, who was recently sidelined from the New Zealand tour due to a calf injury.
Inglis's return meant that dynamic batter Josh Phillippe was left out of the team, alongside Alex Carey.
