
India head coach Gautam Gambhir was at his animated best in celebration of a massive six from Tilak Varma against Haris Rauf during the final of the Asia Cup 2025 against Pakistan. Varma played a match-winning innings of 69* (53) to guide India to a five-wicket win in a thrilling final as he helped the team chase down a tricky target of 147 in 19.4 overs.
As India required ten runs off the last over, Varma sealed the match in the team’s favour by depositing Haris Rauf for a six on the second ball of the final over. Courtesy of his massive hit, the equation came down to two needed off the last four balls as Gambhir was seen at his ecstatic best in the dugout, banging the table in delight.

Varma got involved in crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson (24 off 21) and Shivam Dube (33 off 22) to bail India out of trouble after they were left reeling at 20/3 in four overs. Varma added 57 runs off 50 balls with Samson and later stitched a game-changing stand of 60 runs off just 40 balls with Dube.

Earlier, India got off to a horrendous start as Abhishek Sharma had a rare failure in the tournament and got dismissed for just 5 (6), getting holed out at mid-on. After his dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav continued his poor form and returned to the pavilion for just 1 (5), courtesy of a stunning diving catch from Salman Agha.
Shubman Gill (12 off 10) also holed out to mid on, to leave India reeling at 20/3 in four overs. However, the calm of Tilak Varma took India over the line as they clinched their ninth Asia Cup title.
